The Business Development Ingredients role supports the growth of the ingredients distribution business in Italy by driving sales performance and contributing to revenue and margin targets.

It is responsible for managing sales activities, developing new business opportunities, and maintaining strong relationships with customers and principals, in line with the company’s commercial strategy.

Business Developer Ingredients (M/W)

Position's missions

Business Development & Client Portfolio Management

  • Manage the sale of ingredients to B2B customers, both existing and new
  • Maintain and improve the relationship with existing clients on the entrusted client portfolio (including key accounts) with a view to developing the product lines entrusted by these clients
  • Ensure the monitoring of their client portfolio
  • Collaborate with the Area Manager Italy, Sales & Marketing Director, and Global Purchasing Department to develop the product portfolio
  • Conduct customer visits (30–40% of working time)
  • Communicate and negotiate with clients

 

Sales Strategy & Commercial Execution

  • Implement the commercial policy and propose areas for improvement
  • Determine the cost and sales prices according to the group’s rules, in relation to management
  • Manage commercial offers, contracts, samples, complaints, and projects
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, pricing, margins, and inventory optimization
  • Approve margin calculations and pricing in compliance with assigned authorization levels
  • Accurately enter and update all opportunities and projects in the company CRM system (Efficy)

 

Project Management & Client Needs Analysis

  • Analyse the needs of clients/prospects and manage the management of each project: be a source of proposals and support in product design (formulation, packaging)
  • Coordinate the development files of new projects up to the delivery of the first order in connection with the different stakeholders (R&D, package, Quality, ADV…)
  • Evaluate and validate the different services provided to clients

 

Internal Coordination and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Purchasing for product sourcing
  • Coordinate and set operational priorities for the Sales Support Assistant role
  • Support internal training (R&D and other stakeholders) on the ingredients portfolio
  • Ensure effective after-sales support in collaboration with Customer

 

Tools, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct visit reports and fill in/update the client file
  • Increment the CRM daily according to the required guidelines
  • Participate in the improvement of tools for monitoring commercial activity and business development
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of the business process as well as the resulting documents.

 

Marketing & Communication Support

  • Participate in trade fairs, conferences, and industry events to promote products and develop commercial contacts

The profile sought

Desired Education: Degree in scientific disciplines (Sciences, Food Technology, or related fields)

Required Experience 3–5 years of experience in commercial roles within the ingredients sector

Preferred experience with:

  • Ingredients distributors
  • Ingredients manufacturers

Preferred knowledge of the Dietary Supplement and/or Functional Nutrition market

Technical Skills: Sales techniques, negotiation, project management, oral and written English proficiency. Fluent Italian

Soft Skills :

  • Strong commercial mindset and results-oriented approach
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build and maintain structured professional relationships
  • High level of autonomy, strong organizational skills, and effective time management
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams
